The eight edition of Transilvania International Guitar Festival finished on Saturday, 21 August, with the Gala of Laureats and the recital of Antal Pusztai.

The prizes of the guitar competitions are:

IV Category, Solo Competition:

  • First Prize: Eduard Leata (Pitesti, Romania)
  • Second Prize: Nahornyi Stanislav (Chernivtsy, Ukraine, prof. Hryhoriy Maksymiuk)
  • Third Prize:
    • Marian Balan (Cluj-Napoca, prof. Constantin Andrei)
    • Dragos Horghidan (Bucuresti, prof. Catalin Stefanescu-Patrascu)

II-MC Category, Chamber Music Competition

  • First Prize:

The 28-year-old Russian guitarist Artyom Dervoed won the first prize in the 4th International Guitar Competition Winners: 3000 euro, a Jan Jones guitar and a concert in New York City in Carnegie Hall in 2011 - one of the most important concert halls in the world.

A total of 50 contestants from 32 countries competed in the primary round of the competition. Only 5 of them made it to the final round, giving a solo performance of 25 to 30 minutes. The prizes were:

  • First Prize: Artyom Dervoed (Russia) - 3000 euro, a Jan Jones guitar and a concert in New York City in Carnegie Hall in 2011
  • Second Prize: Chia-Wei Lin (Taiwan) - 2000 euro and a Constantin Dumitriu guitar
  • Third Prize: David Dyakov (Bulgaria) and Fabian Freesen (Germany) - 1000 euro
  • Finalist: Sabrina Vlaskalic (Serbia) - 250 euro
  • Best Bach Performance: Mateus Dela Fonte (Brazil) - 1000 euro

Jury: Hubert Käppel, Bruce Holzman, Dale Kavanagh, Tom Johnson, Werner Kämmerling, Ulrich Stracke, Frank Gerstmeier, Stephen Mattingly.
