Alecu & Sergiu in Almeria, Spain: The Romanians and Mexicans won four of the five prizes

The competitions of the first two ages categories "Antonio de Torres" and "José Tomás" has been held in Roquetas de Mar at The School of Music, Theatre and Dance, with the participation of 21 young artists, while the"Julian Arcas", absolute, will run from Wednesday morning, with 19 enrollees, at the Auditorio Maestro Padilla Hall in Almeria.

In the "Antonio de Torres" competition, reserved for guitarists up to 13 years, four of the five prizes of 120 euros each were awarded to young guitarists from Romania and Mexico. The equality of the prizes in this category is intended to encourage the participation avoiding competitiveness in these ages and to inspire young guitarists to continue their musical studies.

The winners were Alecu Ciapi and Sergiu Hudrea from Romania, Sergio Bucheli and José Daniel Salceda from México and Adam Ruedas from Barcelona, Spain.

This year, in this age group of Cajamar guitar contest have submitted a total of 12 participants. There are nine boys and three girls. In terms of nationalities, besides those mentioned, there was also an instrumentalist from Portugal.

The jury composed of the musical personalities as Miguel Ángel Aguiló, José Alejandro Córdova and Gloria Medina, was very impressed by the high level of all participants, which suggests that Aguiló said «the future of the guitar is fully guaranteed».
