Olivia Iancu graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest (UNMB) – Faculty of Musical Performance, the Classical Guitar specialization, in 2007. In 2009 she got her Master’s Degree at UNMB, Stylistic Interpretation – Chamber Music specialization, and in 2015 she got her PhD at the same University. In 2008 she also started to study historical instruments (lute, archlute), and her interest in Early Music is objectified in her master and doctoral studies. She is a laureate of National Guitar Contests and Festivals; she obtained Merit grants and Scholarships, among which Erasmus Scholarship at Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” Weimar, Germany. Olivia Iancu attended masterclasses with some of the most important professors and concert players in the world of guitar and lute (Costas Cotsiolis, Carlo Marchione, Zoran Dukić, Thomas Müller-Pering, Hopskinson Smith, among others). Currently, she is an Assistant Professor within the University of Pitești – Arts Department.
Olivia Iancu together with the guitarist Claudiu Lobonț made their debut as Duo Iancu-Lobonț in 2007. With an abundant activity, invited to perform in the most important profile festivals in the country, the duo has had also collaborations with various chamber ensembles and orchestras, both with guitars as well as historical instruments, in numerous Early Music projects, in the country and abroad.
