Ilie Zugrav

Ilie Aurelian Zugrav graduated from „Ciprian Porumbescu” Art High School of Suceava, and later from „George Enescu” the Arts University of Iasi, Faculty of Music Performance, Classical Guitar Specialisation. Since 2004 he is a professor of classical guitar at the „Ciprian Porumbescu” Art College of Suceava. During 2004-2012 he was an associate professor at the School of Art „Ion Irimescu”, part of the Bucovina Cultural Center. As a teacher, he guided and coordinated the activity of several students at the National Olympics of Music Performance, national and international competitions of classical guitar, who won numerous prizes and mentions. He was also an evaluating teacher in profile contests.

As a performer, he won various national prizes and distinctions, the main ones being: 2nd prize (Reşiţa, 1997), 1st prize (Odorheiul Secuiesc, 1998), 2nd prize (Arad, 1999) in National Olympics of Music, as well as 1st prize in Classical Guitar International Festival – chamber music (Cluj-Napoca, 2010), etc. He performed as a soloist, as well as a member of the ALHAMBRA Guitar Quartet on the stage of Romanian Atheneum, Iasi Moldova Philarmonic, Music University of Iasi, and Cluj-Napoca, Romanian Television, etc.

He took mastery classes with Rafael Aguirre, Antal Pusztai, David Pavlovits, Andras Csaky, Constantin Stanciu (VOCES Quartet), and Michel Sadanowsky.

Since 2012 he is a member of the rock band ODYSSEY (bass guitar), and he took part in the recording of their third album, named Stone Wings.
