Kató Árpád was born in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania and started his musical studies as a violonist. Much later, after a longer break, he started playing classical guitar and gratuated from the local Arts Highschool. After that he got a degree at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music.
He has participated in master classes of many famous guitarists such as Alirio Diaz, Gianfranco Volpato, Josef Zsapka, Roland Dyens, Zoran Dukic, etc. He also performed in many cities around the Europe, the United States and Canada. During these concerts he played in different formulas - solo, duos, trios (with flutists and violonists), but also with Lyra Philarmonic Orchestra in Debrecen, as a soloist. Together with the guitarist Petra Kohut form the duo „arTpeggio” wich won the First Prize at the Hungarian National Chamber Music Competion for teachers.
Many of his students are now studying at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. Kató Árpád currently teaches classical guitar and chamber music at the Weiner Leó Musical Highschool in Budapest.
